Movies VS Rides

A couple days ago I decided to start watching movies that were based off the rides in Disneyland. There is quite a few, but I was really focused on ones like Twilight Zones: Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean. I know there are many others, but I didn’t have a lot of time to watch them, so I just stuck with those. Unfortunately, I could not find the Tower of Terror one which is one of my favorite rides! The first one I watched was The Haunted Mansion.

The difference between the movie and the ride; they don’t tell the same story. The ride talks about a bride (I hope I get this right) that kills every man she marries and when she dies, she’s the one who haunts the place. At least that is what I get from the ride. There is a part of the ride where you get to go through the attic and you see pictures of the same lady but a different man each time and towards the end she is standing there with an axe. That is how I came to my conclusion of the story line.

Now the movie… well… it doesn’t do the ride justice, however there are lots of scenes from the ride shown in the movie. The movie’s story line is a love story that went wrong, which I didn’t mind at all, however I think they could’ve got a different guy to play the husband. Eddie Murphy, bless his soul, is a decent actor, but I don’t feel he fit the part for that. Maybe it was actually a storyline fault.

Anyway, you get to see the barbershop head statues, certain parts of the graveyard, the ballroom scene, crystal ball scene, and the knocking door scene. Oh wait I’m forgetting one, the hanging scene at the beginning of the ride. I am thankful that they placed these scenes in the movie. Not sure if I’m the only one who feels this way, but they didn’t seem to flow too well with the story. Oh well.

Next movie was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. I had seen the first one a week before this so I didn’t want to watch that one again, that’s why I started on the 2nd one. Unfortunately I didn’t make it through the entire movie as I got tired and wanted to go to bed. However, there are scenes in Tortuga that are featured in the ride, along with the dog with the keys, and well, Captain Jack himself which was added not to long ago into the ride.

I say all this cause I’m not sure if it is necessary to always match up the rides with the movies or movies with the rides, but it always makes me excited to see a part of a movie that I know is in the ride!

I hope to go to Florida’s Universal Studios next year and check out the NEW part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!!  I will have to have another movie marathon before then.

I’ll see you all on Wednesday!! I’ll be in Disneyland that day so experiences will be had!!

Read This Prompt

What a character wearing something red is thinking:

I should’ve never bought this dress! It looks ghastly on me. What was I thinking? How can I ever step foot in public with this on?  The silky feeling on my skin is nice, along with the way it moves with me, but the color!  UGH! It’s like a dried up rose and against my peachy skin I look as if I just stepped off the pale train! Maybe if I had more color to my skin it wouldn’t look so bad. Maybe I’ll go to the tanning booth later today. I didn’t spend 300 for nothing! No matter! I will wear this to the ball, even if I do look like death bathed in blood!

Your favorite moment in film:

This is challenging because there are a lot of films that have some very unforgettable and favorite moments. Let’s start off with Avengers. This is probably a favorite for a lot of people, but I love it when Hulk grabs Loki by the foot and starts throwing him back and forth. Hulk then ends it by saying “Puny god!” I remember the entire theater busting into laughter at that. Then there is Pearl Harbor. My favorite part is when they finally tell the guys what their mission is and then they start painting things on the bombs. It’s quite an uplifting scene. It makes you feel strong. Harry Potter: probably when Neville cuts of the snakes head or when Harry meets up with Snape at the dock as he is dieing. That part made me cry. I’ll give you one more scene that I like a lot and it is from Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. They are in the Mines of Moria trying to escape, when the stairs become separated. Then Gimili announces “Nobody tosses a dwarf!”. He then jumps and Legolas catches him by his beard. There are other movies that have many favorite moments, but if I was to name them all, we would be here all day!

The menu for your last meal:

Well my last meal was a BLTCPO sandwich (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Cheese, Pickle and Onion), but I think they mean what I would want as my last meal before God takes me home. To be honest, I don’t think I have ever thought about it. Here is probably how it would look:

Beverage: Coke with Cherry Syrup and Hot Earl Grey Tea
Appetizer: Cesar Salad from Texas Roadhouse and Crab Puffs
Main Meal: Spaghetti with my homemade sauce and Garlic Bread
Desert: Tiramisu and Creme Brulee

There you have it folks! My last meal.

Sweet Crafting

Pick a hobby and write about it:

I was 21 when I really started to get interested in this fine craft. My mother had done it for most of her life and there were many times I just sat and watched in awe at her creativeness. I’m talking about Cake decorating. It is a hobby for some and a living for others. Although I don’t think I would want to make a living doing it, it is something I enjoy doing. You wouldn’t know it by how stressed I get when time is running out and there is still a lot to do, but it actually gives me great joy to create an edible piece of art. Mom used to do cakes like the 3d dolls, care-bears, or one of my favorites was a guitar. One year she got really creative and made me a Lord of the Rings cake for my 21st birthday. However, I did get to help her on this one.

That is what started me on this path. I do cakes for my friends and family, and lately for my husbands work. This weekend I am making one for my husbands co-worker, who is throwing a baby shower. It will be a 3 tiered square cake with a Butterfly theme. My favorite thing about it, I got to design it. That is what I enjoy the most about the hobby is getting to design the cakes. Sometimes I start with a basic idea and change things from there. Although my mom was the first one to teach me the basics of decorating, I spent a lot of my time watching Charm City Cakes on the Food Network channel. Watching them create some of the most elaborate cakes helped me gain some insight/ideas on how to accomplish the same things.  One of my first cakes that I did without my mom around to help, was the Stargate Ring from the Science Fiction show Stargate SG-1:

I believe, if I am not mistaken, the next cake I worked on was for a Twilight party that the Harney County Library was hosting:

After we moved to Florida I got to dabble in a lot more. I decided it was time to actually take a couple lessons in it.  By the end of the 4th lesson I got to do this:

This was a challenging cake, but I loved it!  After this I made my husband a swiss army knife cake (which I can’t seem to find a picture of) and Kay’s husband this cake:

One mistake I made with this particular cake, was forgetting that icing color gets darker after it drives. I swear it was Brown when I started! One of my favorite cakes I have ever gotten a chance to do was a Christmas Tree Cake for some friends of ours:

At this time I started to realize how much I really enjoyed doing this. Everyone loved this cake and I really liked it as well. Making the Fondant pieces were really fun!  After this one came my birthday party in Oregon. I didn’t want to stress my mom out with making a two tiered cake, so I decided to make my own birthday cake.

I bet you can’t guess what my party theme was! Ha ha!
Moving on… When my husband and I moved to Massachusetts (where we currently reside), his work kept pestering him to have me do a cake for a couple holiday things. I did a July 4th cake (I will insert picture later) and a Halloween Cake!  This one is my 2nd favorite. Although the Chocolate did not harden right (still working on that skill), it came out really well.

There you have it folks! Some of my crazy creations! I will definitely post something about my adventure on the cake I’m doing this weekend. I know for a fact there will be some stressful moments!

To end this wonderful time together I will leave you with one of the tastiest cakes I have ever had and one of my favorite memories. Kay and I made this cake and it was absolutely delicious!  Don’t drool all over your keyboard now!

Day four: Kay and Jay’s Nashville Adventure

Morning came way too early for the two of us! Especially Kay, who apparently didn’t get much sleep last night. Of course it was another day at work. This time we had a couple helpers, which means we got a lot of things done. After work we went to this amazing Thai restaurant. The food was good, but the best part was our waitress. We call her Air, although that is not her real name. We probably wouldn’t be able to pronounce it right anyway. She is quite the card! She makes you laugh with her wild stories and her way of serving you.

After lunch we came home and Kay and I (Jay) went straight to our homework. Once the homework was over it was… HARRY POTTER TIME!! We watched the 5th one and this time Kay fell asleep through the last 20 minutes of it. She needed it though. We had a business meeting this evening with lots of laughs and friendly people. At one point the speaker told me to tell my friends it was “Kronk”. I said “I don’t think I’m going to be able to say that, cause it will not come out that way!” There was quite a bit of laughter and a bit of red cheeks from me.

We are now home from the meeting and although we have to get up early we decided it is a great time to start the next Harry Potter movie!  Yep.. #6! Looks like we will be able to get through them all this week after all!!

We have a huge day tomorrow so stay tuned for more adventures!!
